SOM SPEECH CHOIR AND IGNITE SPEECH COMPETITION

Speech choir competition is the last but not the least activity that we did for this English term. But of course the Ignite speech competition too. Our candidate for the Ignite speech competition was Charella Gonzales, she is also our leader for the speech choir.

We are the last presentor of the speech which is entitled "At Christmas by Edgar Albert Guest" I really thought that we will not make it. But when I saw the presentation of the other blocks, that time, I feel that we will be the 2nd or 3rd runner up, because there's this block that was very good. but when the MC or the Professor announced the winners, when He announced the 2nd runner up, it was the AC 151 (I think). when the prof called their block, I already know that we will be the champion (lol, tbh haha). And yes, when our block was called by the prof or MC, we all feel happy because all of our hard work and effort was all worth it.

Even though Charella didn't win, we are still proud of her because she had the guts to represent our block with confidence.

Seminar on Media Literacy

The seminar will teach you on how to use technology properly. It also gives us more information about how to use social medias properly. Because as we can see, most people uses social medias for posting unnecessary pictures or videos that the minor people could see it.

In this seminar, it enhances my knowledge on using mobile works. This seminar taught me what are the appropriate and inappropriate post should I post. And posts that can avoid judgement. Because people are very judgemental for example, you posted a quote using the English language, when people saw a mistake they will judge you and make fun of your post.

Attending this seminar is a big help for students like me, not only the students but all of us should attend this seminar because I am very sure that many people will learn a lot.

EDGE OF TOMORROW

Edge of Tomorrow is a 2014 American science fiction film starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. a movie that made me curious. but movies that made me curious and wonder what will happen next are the movies that I always wanted to watch.

When I watched this movie, I got bored watching it at first because I didn't get the message of the story. But when the movie was going on, I found it interesting so watched it until the end.

This story is about changing the future. But the main character was always repeating what his doing until he make it perfectly. He wanted to change the future, save the people. AND He did it. He did change the world and save the people. He also found love during his mission.

The story taught me that if you are willing to change the future and help other people. You can. Just have faith.

TURN LEFT, TURN RIGHT

At first I got bored while watching this movie. The story is about two person that lives in the same building, separated only by a wall. He turns left, She turns right. One time, I got curious of what is going to happen, so I tend to finish the movie. The movie was good because you will think if destiny is true. For some, maybe yes and for others maybe not. But it's up to you if you will believe in destiny. This two person actually met when they're still kids but they never get to know their names until they grew up. The movie is light-hearted drama, but conceptually quite strong and pure. it is what most romantic-comedies are at their core.

You will learn a lot from this movie so I suggest you that you should try to watch it!

ANG TATAY MONG KALBO

ANG TATAY MONG KALBO is an absurd play but you will enjoy and have fun watching it. Because it was very entertaining. To be honest, at first I really don't get what the play was all about. I am proud that one of the actors of the play was my closest friend (Joshua Beredo as Hepe).

The play started with a poem and followed by singing of the Philippine National Anthem.

You will notice that it is an absurd play because all the characters were just keep on telling nonsense stories. But I am very sure that if the play was written in English language most of us will have a hard time to pick up the humor. In some ways, represent humanity.

Mr. and Mrs. Santos are the two main characters in the story. And they are both absentminded. They didn't even know who they are and they were married. But even though it is absurd, it is still related in our daily lives.

FEMINISM

Do you know what Feminsm is? Feminism is the radical notion that women are people.

Feminism is a range of movements and ideologies that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for womenThis includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. It is also the belief that men and women should have equal rights and responsibilities because, first, as we can see that this world is an unfair world especially for some of the girls because they are underestimated by guys/men.

It is frustrating to live in a society where sexual violence is commonplace, and feel helpless to stop it. Many people are so disgusted and frightened for themselves and those they care about, that they do not have the patience to wait for our culture to right itself.

Men and women can both do same chores or works. But how will women do it without getting underestimated by men? Simple, men should accept that also women can do what they can do because most of the time not all men are capable of doing chores at the same time, I am pretty sure that they also be needing help from women, so they don't have the right to underestimate what women are capable of.

INTER HIGH SCHOOL PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION

At first, this Inter high school public speaking competition was quite boring, why? First, most of the students waited about an hour at the Asia Pacific College's Auditorium and yet the competition started after an hour. Anyway, the competition was tough for the high school students and different schools competed. The high school students told their own stories about their best and worst times. All of their stories was very touching for most of us, the audiences. Because they really know what is the importance of TIME not just in their lives but also the lives of other people.

I was very touched when one of the participants told us that he thought he could never walk again because of what happened on his ankle, I was amazed to him because he didn't give up and he did his best not just for himself but also for his family. I know that all of the participant's family and friends are very proud of them because they still keep on having faith in God that they can achieve there goal, maybe not now but sooner or later they will.

Going back to the topic, the competition taught me that I should conquer my fears and not to waste my time, like by not wasting the opportunity that the Lord is already giving me. Because at some point that opportunity will be gone and maybe I cannot take that opportunity in the future. Time is precious, so you should know that when you have an opportunity to do something, go for it.

In the end, the competition was enjoyable and I learned many things from it. I am thankful for all the things that I learned today. I know that someday I will conquer my fear and face my problems like all the participants did.

PLAGIARISM

PLAGIARISM is the act of presenting other people's work as your own like, copying and pasting without giving credits to the owner of that work. Most people nowadays especially students keeps on using technology when they have homeworks, projects, seatworks, and etc. We all know that plagiarism is just an another term from stealing someone else's work.

Even though you paraphrased your work, it is always necessary to indicate where did the information come from. Many people do not indicate there sources of information but some people do. BUT it is not enough if you just put the link. Relying on the internet or in other people's work will lead you to do plagiarism, why? Because when some people find a source of information they will be lazy enough to do on their own because they will think that why should they do an original work if they already found a finished work, right? Yes, of course (lol).

So, when you're thinking of plagiarizing, think twice and be sure of what will you choose. Because when someone saw your work, and if they already saw the same work of yours from other people they might confront you of plagiarizing, and they might tell you that you don't have an originality of producing works and I know that you will be hurt if that happened.

Okay. I'll leave you now with a simple reminder: THINK TWICE BEFORE DOING SOMETHING, BECAUSE YOU MIGHT REGRET IT IN THE END.

SOM WEEK

SOM Week is a week to remember, because we all have a week to enjoy and support our batch, course, and team.

SOM week started with a parade. And it is very tiring walking starting from the APC Parking up to Magallanes village. We also have a lot of fun activities to see. There are lots of games involved like, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, dodgeball, games of the general, chess, running man and many more. I only got the chance to join in Table tennis because some of my classmates are already having some issues so I told myself that I won't join that game even though I want to. Because I don't want to be involved in their issues or what.

Anyway, the whole week was very fun! Even though I didn't win in table tennis I still enjoyed playing with the other course. And I know that it is not a big deal because the most important is I had fun and I tried my best to win.

We also had a pageant for SOM Week. Joshua Dave Beredo (SoM Representative) is one of my block mates. And we are all proud even though He did not have the chance to get the title of "Mr. SOM 2015" because even though I did not watch the pageant, I am sure that He did his best to win. Yes, He did not win, but it doesn't mean that He don't deserve to win, maybe not now, but sooner or later He will get what he deserves.

And because of all the experiences that I had, I am looking forward for more fun, exciting, and memorable activities that me and my block will have :)

CHEERS AND CHANTS

Cheers and Chants is one of the most memorable thing that happened into my life. You wanna know the reason why? First of all, it's because this is the first competition that we had as a batch. We learned that UNITY in a class is the most important thing all of us should have, because without unity you will not be able to work with one another and your efforts will be wasted. But of course we had a hard time of finishing the song that we sang because we all have many ideas and we can't compile all of it in a one performance. And we also have a hard time in controlling the class, especially when it comes to our noises.Because of that, I thought that we won't finish our song. But in the end, we finally got the teamwork that we want.

Because of all the effort that we gave, we won the 1st place. *yey* Even though that we,re not the champion, for me, we are the best. And the most memorable thing that day was we all have fun and enjoyed every second of it.

I am...

Vincent  Lourdes  Sam  Dino is the name.  To  be  honest,  I  don’t  like  my  first  and  second name so you can just call me Sam. And I don’t want to find out where did my name came from because even though I know what is the story behind my name I cannot do anything about it. Anyway, I was born in Makati Medical Center on the 6th day of February, 1999. But my family and I stayed in the Province of Albay for about 12 or 13 years, so I studied pre-school up to highschool there. I graduated from St. Benedict’s Academy.

Some of you knows me but most of you don’t. Well, I am just a simple girl with big dreams. I am also the type of person who is an easy-go-lucky person. I am also a shy type girl but many people keep saying that I am talkative which is quite true, just kidding, I admit that I am talkative. Because I can’t keep my mouth shut even just for an hour or even less than an hour, and I don’t know why, but I think it’s because I get bored easily when I’m in a quiet place. I am also the person that will not approach you first because when I do that I always end up with nothing to say and it feels very awkward. I have a circle of friends even though I’m like this, but most of my friends are guys. Because based on my past experiences most girls are stabbing me/there so called friends from behind or at the back. So I told myself that don’t trust girls easily when it comes in telling secrets or what because girls are girls no matter what, and I am quite disappointed about that because I am also a girl. That’s why I am very comfortable with guys in telling my secrets and problems. But I hate it when some guys can’t get used to most/all of the girls that girls are very moody. And the other reason why most of my friends are guys because most of the time I’m always with my cousins and most of my cousins I’m comfortable with are guys. I am also the type of person that really hates talking in front of many people but I’m doing it right now and I’m really nervous but I just need to go with the flow because I know that this is part of being a student.

Each one of us has their strengths and weaknesses we just need to conquer our weaknesses or fears to have a new achievement in life. And don’t let your fear ruin your future. That’s all. Thank you.
